Questions Before You Book

Is 3 nights enough for a Nile cruise?

Yes, it is enough to see the main sites: the Osiris Odyssey visits the same ten as our longer programmes, with all the touring fitted into four days. If you can add one night, the Horus Holiday sees the same sites at a balanced pace for $70 more per person in a double cabin.

What is the difference between the programmes?

Not the sites: all three include the same ten guided visits and full board. The longer programmes add nights on the Nile and an easier pace, and they cost less per night: $443 for three nights, $350 for four and $243 for seven, in a double cabin.

Is Abu Simbel included?

It is an optional add-on to every guided programme: $180 per guest by road, or $450 by plane. You can add it when you book or once you arrive. Our two eclipse journeys are the exception: there, Abu Simbel is included.

When do your cruises sail?

Every week from September to the spring, when the weather is perfect for sightseeing. In 2027 our last cruise of the season returns to Luxor on 29 April. Regular cruises pause from June to August, when Upper Egypt is extremely hot; our eclipse journeys in summer 2027 are the exception.

Can children come?

Yes, the M/S City and Sea Adonis welcomes guests of all ages. Children aged 0 to 5 stay free in their parents’ cabin, and children aged 6 to 11 pay 50% of the adult rate, with an extra bed in their parents’ cabin. From 12, the adult rate applies.

Which day do the cruises start?

The 4-night and 7-night cruises start on Thursdays in Luxor, and the 3-night cruise on Mondays in Aswan. Our Cairo journeys begin earlier, at your hotel in Cairo: on Mondays for Nefertiti Nirvana and Ramses Retreat, and on Saturdays for Tut Throne, Ra Royalty and Timeless Treasures.

Karnak Temple

Step into the ancient world at Karnak Temple, an awe-inspiring testament to Egyptian grandeur. This vast complex celebrates the gods with gigantic columns and intricate hieroglyphs, making it a living history book. Did you know Karnak was continuously expanded over 2,000 years by successive pharaohs, making it a unique blend of their visions and styles?

Luxor Temple

Behold Luxor Temple, a majestic monument to pharaonic might and divine harmony. Illuminated at night, it offers a breathtaking view, showcasing exquisite carvings and grand statues. This temple uniquely venerates both a god (Amun-Ra) and a pharaoh (Ramses II), symbolizing the intertwined nature of religion and royalty in ancient Egypt.

Valley of the Kings

Discover the secrets of the pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings. This hidden necropolis, home to Tutankhamun’s tomb, is a treasure trove of Egyptian artistry and ingenuity. Each tomb tells a story, adorned with vibrant paintings that guide the king’s soul to the afterlife.

Colossi of Memnon

Gaze upon the Colossi of Memnon, two towering statues representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III. These guardians of the Theban Necropolis have stood for millennia, famously ‘singing’ at dawn due to thermal changes, a mystery that intrigued visitors since Roman times.

Queen Hatshepsut Temple

Marvel at the Queen Hatshepsut Temple, an architectural masterpiece. Built into a cliff face, it breaks the traditional temple mold. This temple honors one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs, Hatshepsut, and stands as a testament to her reign of prosperity and peace.

Edfu Temple

Explore the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the best-preserved ancient temples. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, it features inscriptions offering insights into language, myth, and religion. Its walls narrate the legendary battle between Horus and Seth, showcasing ancient storytelling.

Kom Ombo Temple

Kom Ombo Temple, uniquely dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Horus, is a fascinating blend of symmetry and duality. This riverside temple, with crocodile mummies on display, offers a glimpse into ancient medical practices and the importance of Nile wildlife in Egyptian mythology.

Aswan High Dam

Behold the Aswan High Dam, a modern marvel of engineering. This feat of human ingenuity tamed the Nile, generating power and protecting millions from floods. Its construction created Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest artificial lakes

Esna Temple

Step inside the Temple of Khnum at Esna, where a magnificently preserved hypostyle hall reveals some of the latest hieroglyphic inscriptions ever carved in ancient Egypt. Dedicated to the ram-headed creator god believed to have shaped humanity on his potter’s wheel, this temple lay buried under centuries of desert sand and village buildings before its stunning columns were finally uncovered.

Felucca Ride

Experience the charm of a traditional Felucca ride, a gentle journey across the calm waters of the Nile. These elegant sailboats have sailed the river for centuries, offering an authentic and timeless escape. Enjoy the cool breeze and admire the riverside views, just as people have done since the days of ancient Egypt.

Abu Simbel Temple

Stand in awe at Abu Simbel, Ramses II’s grand tribute to himself and his queen, Nefertari. Carved out of a mountain, these temples were relocated in a historic UNESCO effort to save them from flooding. The temple aligns with the sun twice a year, lighting up the inner sanctum, a sight not to be missed.

Esna Lock

Experience the fascinating Esna Lock, a modern marvel along the Nile that guides cruise ships through a dramatic change in water level. As your vessel descends into the massive chamber, local vendors display their wares from the lock walls above, creating a uniquely Egyptian spectacle where ancient trade traditions meet 20th-century engineering.

Philae Temple

Discover the enchanting Temple of Isis at Philae, rescued from the rising waters of the Nile in one of history’s greatest archaeological salvages. Relocated stone by stone to Agilkia Island, this sanctuary devoted to the goddess Isis was among the last places where ancient Egyptian religion was openly practiced, a final, luminous chapter of a 3,000-year civilization.

M/S City and Sea Adonis Nile Cruise

Embark on an elegant journey aboard the City and Sea Adonis, a 5-star luxury Nile cruise that redefines comfort between Luxor and Aswan. As you glide along the timeless river, refined interiors, attentive service, and panoramic views create a seamless blend of relaxation and discovery. From sunrise over ancient temples to serene evenings on deck, this voyage offers a sophisticated gateway to Egypt’s most iconic treasures, where every detail is curated for an unforgettable experience.

Lake Nasser

Behold Lake Nasser, one of the largest man-made lakes on Earth, stretching over 500 kilometers into the heart of the Nubian Desert. Born from the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s, its vast turquoise waters transformed Egypt’s landscape forever, submerging ancient Nubian villages while securing the nation’s water supply and powering its future.
